CaroMont Health in North Carolina Launches Bundled Payment Pilot

CaroMont Health, parent of Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C., is launching a bundled payment pilot, which charges one amount for both hospital and physician services during the hospital stay and in some cases beyond that, according to a report by the Gaston Gazette.

The initiative, which will start by the end of the year, is expected to cover a range of the hospital’s most recognizable services. If successful, CaroMont would contract with payors to be paid in bundled amounts for larger groups.

To implement the pilot, CaroMont will use a clinical performance management system from Sg2 while GE Healthcare Performance Solutions will advise on delivery of safe and efficient patient care.
