Michael Lighty, director of public policy for the CAN, testified before the state Assembly’s Select Committee on Health Care Delivery System and Universal Coverage in support of S.B. 562, which passed the state Senate but was shelved by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, D-Lakewood.
Mr. Rendon said he set the bill aside because it lacked a specific outline for how the state would pay for the costs of providing healthcare for all of California’s residents. The hearing Wednesday was supposed to be the last in a series that began in the fall. However, committee chairman Rep. Jim Wood, D-Healdsburg, said he may schedule more hearings for the spring.
