Bill Gates, Barack Obama and Mark Zuckerberg recommend this book

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, former President Barack Obama and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg recommended adding this nonfiction book to your summer reading list, according to Business Insider.

Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari, PhD, a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, traces the evolution of humans through the modern age and examines the dual roles biology and history have played in shaping modern thought.

"When Melinda and I went on our spring vacation, I encouraged her to pack a copy of [Mr.] Harari's 'Sapiens' … I had just finished the book and I was dying to talk to her about it. It's so provocative and raises so many questions about human history that I knew it would spark great conversations around the dinner table. It didn't disappoint. In fact, in the weeks since we've been back from our holiday, we still talk about 'Sapiens'," Mr. Gates wrote in a blog post.

Former President Obama discussed Mr. Harari's work in an interview with CNN correspondent Fareed Zakaria in 2016, calling the book "interesting" and "provocative."

Mr. Zuckerberg recommended the novel to members of his book club, stating, "This book is a big history of human civilization — from how we developed the hunter-gatherers early on to how we organize our society and economy today."
