The message comes after Politico reported relationships between Mr. Azar and Mr. Grogan and other White House policy officials were wearing thin.
The Azar-Grogan op-ed recounts steps President Donald Trump and his administration have taken to address the ills of the U.S. healthcare system, including President Trump’s recent executive order on price transparency and a rule to expand health reimbursement arrangements, as well as expedited generic drug approvals and other drug pricing efforts.
“President Trump has promised a better vision: a healthcare system that treats you like a person, not a number,” the pair wrote. “He wants to hold providers and Big Pharma accountable to transparency and reasonable prices. We are working every day to protect American patients and deliver on the president’s vision.”
The Politico report, based on anonymous interviews with a dozen officials, alleged the tensions between HHS and the White House had stalled drug-pricing policy.
