AHA honors Dr. James Weinstein with Justin Ford Kimball Innovators Award: 3 points

The American Hospital Association named James N. Weinstein, DO, winner of the Justin Ford Kimball Innovators Award. Dr. Weinstein is president and CEO of Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system.

Here are three points:

1. The award “recognizes people or organizations that have developed or introduced an influential, innovative approach to healthcare financing and/or healthcare delivery to improve access or coordination of care.”

2. In addition to serving as Dartmouth-Hitchcock CEO, Dr. Weinstein is also executive director and a founding member of the High Value Healthcare Collaborative, a partnership of more than 12 health systems.

3. Dr. Weinstein is set to retire from his role at the helm of Dartmouth-Hitchcock in June 2017, however, he will remain the Peggy Y. Thomson Chair in the Evaluative Clinical Sciences at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College and will continue his work with the High Value Healthcare Collaborative.
