7 professions where gray hair makes you more marketable

Numerous magazines publish lists praising particularly successful businesspeople under 40 or even 30. But from a customer's standpoint, there are several professions in which gray hair and years of experience can make one more marketable than youth, according to the Boston Business Journal.

Here are seven careers where gray hair — symbolic of experience, credibility and expertise — gives you a competitive edge, according to the report.

  • Lawyers
  • Stockbrokers
  • Plant and operations managers
  • Police and military senior officers
  • High-level politicians and diplomats
  • Electricians and plumbers
  • TV anchors

In the fields of medicine and accounting, age (and hair color) has less of an influence. With the regular introduction of new technology and medicine, new physicians who have been trained the latest breakthrough techniques are highly respected, as are their more seasoned counterparts.
