1. Drugmaker Intarcia Therapeutics cuts 20% of workforce, terminates 2 late-stage trials: 8 things to know
Intarcia Therapeutics, a Boston-based biopharmaceutical company, laid off 60 employees and terminated two late-stage trials of its lead diabetes treatment, reports the Boston Business Journal.

2. Sanofi Genzyme to lay off 130 employees at Boston plant
Sanofi Genzyme is laying off 130 workers at its manufacturing plant in Boston to reduce costs and simplify operations, according to the Boston Globe.

3. South Carolina hospital aims to save $1M by reducing workforce
The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, S.C., is laying off less than 3 percent of its 1,404-person workforce as part of a cost-savings plan, according to The Times and Democrat.

4. Western Missouri Medical Center cuts 41 positions
Western Missouri Medical Center, a nonprofit, community facility in Warrensburg, cut 41 positions, including 33 layoffs of clinic and hospital employees.
