MSNJ CEO Larry Downs said the idea to create the academy began when his organization was in the early stages of creating its own physician leadership academy. The idea of an all-inclusive academy with medical practice, hospital operations and insurance leaders was the result of talks with the heads of NJHA and NJAHP.
Seton Hall’s role in the partnership includes setting the curriculum and organizing guest speakers, according to the report.
MSNJ, MJHA and NJAHP will each nominate 10 executives from their respective sectors for a total of 30 participants for the leadership academy. The first program will go from February until June, and includes a total of 40 hours according to the report. It will focus on end-of-life care, an area in which the state consistently ranks poorly.
