U Kansas Organ Transplant Center to Open

University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City is set to open a $6.5 million organ transplant center next week, according to a report from local KCTV5 news.

The 25,000-square-foot center contains exam rooms, offices, a lab and an information resource center. It will employ 90 people across several healthcare disciplines.

Officials hope that the one-stop transplant center will curb infections that may be more easily acquired during movement between units as in the old center, according to the report.
