Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine has appointed Beth Carlson as chief revenue officer, where she will lead the health system’s newly unified revenue cycle division, according to a March 24 announcement shared with Becker’s.
“As part of ongoing efforts to drive efficiency, strengthen collaboration, and improve financial performance, we are merging revenue cycle and ]health information management]/mid-revenue cycle into a single, unified revenue cycle division under Beth Carlson’s leadership,” Nick Barcellona, senior vice president of finance and CFO of the health system, said in an email announcement. “This integration will consolidate our most powerful revenue cycle knowledge and skillsets, streamline redundancies, and create a more cohesive strategy for optimizing end-to-end revenue cycle.”
A structured transition plan will be implemented over the next several months to ensure a smooth integration with minimal disruption, according to the health system.
Ms. Carlson joined WVU Medicine in 2020 as senior enterprise director of revenue cycle integration and was named vice president of revenue in May 2024. She previously held revenue cycle leadership roles in both payer and provider organizations and has consulted for large health systems. She has a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Ohio University in Athens.
