Ms. Howes served as the hospital’s president and CEO since 2002. Current Women & Infants Executive Vice President and COO Mark Marcantano has been named acting president of the hospital in her place. Ms. Howes plans to help him with the transition over the next six months. After that, she will continue to serve the hospital’s parent, Providence-based Care New England Health System, as executive vice president of women’s health.
