Woman’s Hospital taps North Carolina hospital exec Dr. Barbara Griffith as new CEO

Baton Rouge, La.-based Woman’s Hospital selected Barbara Griffith, MD, to serve as CEO, effective in the fall.

Dr. Griffith is currently CMO and chief of business operations for Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, N.C. She previously served as president and later, CFO of Durham Emergency Physicians, the medical practice that staffs Duke Regional Hospital’s emergency department.

She is an emergency medicine physician and a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dr. Griffith is the permanent successor to Teri Fontenot, who retired in March after 27 years.
