Wellstar names chief external affairs officer from Banner

Don Stanziano was appointed executive vice president and chief external affairs officer of Marietta, Ga.-based Wellstar Health System, effective Sept. 21.

Mr. Stanziano will lead the system’s marketing, communications, government relations and strategic community development teams, according to an Aug. 19 news release.

He joins Wellstar from Phoenix-based Banner Health, where he served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. He previously was chief marketing and communications officer at Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger and spent 16 years with San Diego-based Scripps Health, including eight years as vice president of marketing and communications.

“Don is an accomplished healthcare executive whose experience spans some of the nation’s leading health systems,” Ketul Patel, president and CEO of Wellstar, said in the release. “He has successfully led organizations through periods of growth and transformation while strengthening relationships with patients, communities, policymakers, and stakeholders.”

Wellstar has 12 hospitals, more than 400 care locations and 35,000 employees.
