Laureen Driscoll, MSN, RN, was named president and CEO of York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health, effective Jan. 4.
Ms. Driscoll will succeed Roxanna Gapstur, PhD, RN, who has led WellSpan since January 2019 and announced plans to retire in April, according to an Oct. 7 news release. Dr. Gapstur’s last day will be Jan. 3.
Ms. Driscoll is chief executive of Renton, Wash.-based Providence’s South Division, where she oversees 17 hospitals and about 41,000 caregivers in Northern and Southern California, the release said. Before joining Providence in 2022, she held several leadership roles at Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System, including president of Tacoma General and Allenmore hospitals and president of MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Wash.
“What drew me to WellSpan was not only its history of excellence, but its clear vision for the future, strong culture and deep commitment to the communities it serves,” Ms. Driscoll said in the release.
WellSpan has 12 hospitals, more than 250 patient care locations and more than 24,000 team members, according to its website.
