New York City-based Weill Cornell Medicine has tapped Timothy Donahue, MD, as chair of the department of surgery.
Dr. Donahue will also serve as surgeon-in-chief at New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, according to a July 9 news release from Weill Cornell Medicine.
He joins Weill Cornell from the University of California Los Angeles where he served as executive vice chair of the department of surgery, chief of the division of surgical oncology and medical director for cancer services.
Dr. Donahue plans to establish a dedicated surgical oncology program in collaboration with Jedd Wolchok, MD, PhD, director of the Meyer Cancer Center at Weill Cornell Medicine, as well as develop an AI program with Ithaca, N.Y.-based Cornell Duffield College of Engineering and New York City-based Cornell Tech to support research, education and clinical care throughout the department of surgery.
He will step into his leadership roles at Weill Cornell on Sept. 1, the release said.
