Holly Shelden was named CEO of Colfax, Wash.-based Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics, according to a Sept. 17 news release shared with Becker’s.
Ms. Shelden succeeds interim CEO Hank Hanigan, who previously led the hospital for more than 11 years before retiring in February and later returning on an interim basis.
She joins Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics from Fairbury, Neb.-based Jefferson Community Health & Life, where she was CEO. A native of Garfield, Wash., Ms. Shelden earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Montana State University.
“Coming home to lead this hospital is both an honor and a privilege,” Ms. Shelden said in the release. “I grew up in this region, and I’m deeply committed to giving back and ensuring our friends, families, and neighbors have access to exceptional care close to home.”
Board President Michele Beckmann said in the release that Ms. Shelden’s leadership is essential as the hospital works to fulfill its mission and vision.
Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics is a 25-bed critical access hospital with four primary care clinics and two specialty clinics serving rural communities across 1,200 square miles of Whitman County. It is governed by five elected commissioners, and towns within its district include Colfax, Endicott, LaCrosse, St. John, Steptoe, Hooper and Hay.
