Visiting Nurse Association Health Group hires 1st COO: 4 things to know

Visiting Nurse Association Health Group, the largest nonprofit provider of home health, palliative and hospice care in New Jersey, has hired Vito Buccellato as COO.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Buccellato.

1. In his new role, a newly created position, he will oversee the strategic direction, expansion and operation of VNA Health Group’s three new programmatic institutes: private care services, IT support and analytics, and maintenance and facilities, according to a news release. Mr. Buccellato is also directing initiatives across the agency to enhance quality patient experience.

2. Previously, Mr. Buccellato was COO of Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.

3. Prior to Coney Island Hospital, he was in a dual role as executive vice president for long-term care, assisted living and adult day care and vice president for clinical services at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and the Schulman and Schachne Institute for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brooklyn.

4. He recently published an article in the peer-reviewed Journal of Hospital Administration and has served as vice chairman of the board of directors of Medysis Employees Federal Credit Union and as a board of director of Neighborhood Health Providers.
