Richmond, Va.-based VCU Health has named Sheldon Barr, MSN, president of its future Chesterfield, Va., hospital, effective July 1.
Ms. Barr will lead strategic planning, development and execution of the new hospital before overseeing its day-to-day operations after it opens, according to a June 30 health system news release. She will continue serving as president of VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Va.
Ms. Barr joined VCU Health in 2022 and assumed additional supervisory responsibilities in 2024 for VCU Health Tappahannock (Va.) Hospital, the ambulatory surgery center at Short Pump and planning for community-based patient care facilities, including VCU Health Chesterfield Pavilion.
Before joining VCU Health, Ms. Barr served as CEO of HCA Florida South Shore Hospital in Sun City Center, Fla.
The Chesterfield Pavilion remains on schedule to open in spring 2027.
