VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System appoints William Caron CEO: 5 things to know

VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System in North Las Vegas named U.S. Air Force veteran William Caron CEO, effective June 10.

Five things to know:

1. As CEO, Mr. Caron oversees the healthcare of 63,000 veterans and an annual operating budget of $540 million.

2. Mr. Caron replaced Peggy Kearns, who he worked alongside with for three years as associate director at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, according to a Las Vegas Review-Journal report.

3. He most recently served as director and CEO of the VA Southern Arizona Healthcare System in Tucson.

4. The Review-Journal report also states that he served in the Biomedical Service Corps in the U.S. Air Force as a physical therapist at Barksdale (La.) Air Force Base.

5. Mr. Caron is particularly focused on expanding suicide prevention and outreach programs for veterans within the Southern Nevada community.
