UPMC's CMIO leaves for new job: 3 things to know

G. Daniel Martich, MD, Pittsburgh-based UPMC's CMIO, is leaving his position this month to join West Virginia United Health System in Morgantown as system CMO effective June 1, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.

Here are three things to know about Dr. Martich and his role at UPMC.

1. Dr. Martich is from West Virginia, but he has spent almost a quarter-century in Pittsburgh.

2. In his time at UPMC, Dr. Martich has been a driving force behind the systemwide adoption of EHRs and other technologies. He is also the author of many articles on EHRs and IT systems.

3. Dr. Martich is a 1985 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree at Bethany College in West Virginia.
