UP Health System-Marquette names W. Trent Crable CEO: 5 things to know

W. Trent Crable has been appointed to serve as CEO of UP Health System – Marquette (Mich.), effective Oct. 19, according to a WJMN-TV report.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Crable.

1. He replaces UP Health System Market President James Bogan, who has served as interim CEO of the hospital since the departure of former UP Health System – Marquette CEO Ed Banos.

2. He comes to Marquette from Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio, where he served as CEO since August 2014.

3. Prior to serving as CEO of Northside Medical Center, from 2012 to 2014, he served as executive vice president and COO at The Brooklyn (N.Y.) Hospital Center. He also served as COO and later CEO at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., from 2005 to 2011.

4. Previously in his career, Mr. Crable also served in an executive capacity at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham; Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond; and The Retreat Health System, also in Richmond.

5. Of his newest role, Mr. Crable said, "It is a privilege to have the opportunity to lead UP Health System – Marquette into the future. I'm eager to get to know the hospital's medical staff and all of their fine employees. And as we continue with anticipation toward breaking ground next spring on a new hospital campus, I will be especially sensitive to gaining input from the community while I get to know the people of the Upper Peninsula," according to the report.
