University of Miami Health names Dr. Edward Abraham permanent CEO

University of Miami Health System permanently appointed Edward Abraham, MD, executive vice president for health affairs and CEO. He has served in the roles on an interim basis since Sept. 15, in addition to serving as the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine’s dean and chief academic officer.

Dr. Abraham joined the Miller School of Medicine in July. He previously served as dean of the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C. He is a pulmonary medicine and critical care physician.

Dr. Abraham assumed the executive vice president for health affairs and CEO roles at UHealth in September, following the resignation of Steven M. Altschuler, MD.

Dr. Abraham will continue to serve as dean of the medical school until a new dean is identified.
