Mr. Thoreen has served as the hospital’s CEO for the past 12 years. Under his leadership, St. Luke’s, part of Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health, opened its same day surgery and physician center buildings on the campus and completed multimillion dollar projects in the hospital’s birth center and surgical services area. Mr. Thoreen also led the creation of Sunnybrook Medical Plaza, an outpatient facility that opened in 2013.
Since June 2014, Mr. Thoreen has been working as interim CEO of Meriter-UnityPoint Health in Madison, Wis., in addition to serving as St. Luke’s CEO. With the appointment of Arthur Nizza, DSW, as president and CEO of Meriter-UnityPoint Health, Mr. Thoreen will finish this year in Sioux City.
