UnityPoint Health names chief strategy officer: 5 things to know

West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health has named Mark Burmester senior vice president and chief strategy officer.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Burmester.

1. He has more than three decades of healthcare experience.

2. Most recently, he was vice president of strategic planning and business development at Omaha-based Nebraska Methodist Health System.

3. At Nebraska Methodist Health System, Mr. Burmester led the development of the system's strategic plan, market growth strategies and payer contracting negotiations, and he co-led the planning and development of the Nebraska Health Network accountable care organization with Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine. He also collaborated in the development of Enhance Health, a strategic alliance of independent community hospitals.

4. In his new role, he will lead business development, strategic planning, marketing and communications and project management functions.

5. Mr. Burmester earned a master's degree in health services administration from Arizona State University in Tempe.
