Hospital officials did not give a reason for her departure.

Ms. Weston became president and CEO of Morehead Memorial Hospital in 2015. She led the hospital through a bankruptcy declaration and its acquisition by Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care in 2018. The hospital was then rebranded UNC Rockingham Health Care.

Before joining Morehead Memorial Hospital, Ms. Weston worked for Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health and Adept Health, a consultancy firm.

UNC Health Care plans to name an interim CEO and will then begin a national search for a permanent leader.
