UNC Health Care restructures leadership

UNC Health Care shuffled its leadership team to better unify its hospitals, clinics and physician offices, the Chapel Hill-based health system said Nov. 5.

UNC Health Care made four leadership changes:

1. President of UNC Hospitals Gary Park became COO for UNC Health Care. In that role, he will manage hospital and ambulatory operations in the region and statewide.

2. Steve Burriss, former president of UNC REX Healthcare in Raleigh, became president of the Triangle region, which includes Raleigh-Durham. Mr. Burriss will oversee leaders at UNC Hospitals, UNC REX and ambulatory care.

3. UNC Hospitals got its first female president with the appointment of Janet Hadar. Ms. Hadar previously was senior vice president of operations at UNC Hospitals.

4. UNC REX also got a new president: Ernie Bovio. Mr. Bovio previously served as COO of UNC REX. In his new role, he'll oversee UNC REX and a new community hospital being built in Holly Springs, N.C.
