UMass Memorial Medical Center president to retire

Patrick Muldoon, president of Worcester-based UMass Memorial Medical Center, will retire from his position Jan. 31, 2018, the health system announced Nov. 1.

Mr. Muldoon was appointed president of the institution in August 2013. Officials did not provide additional information regarding Mr. Muldoon’s retirement.

Jeff Smith, MD, executive vice president and COO of UMass Memorial Medical Center, will serve as interim president while officials search for a permanent replacement.
