Gainesville, Fla.-based UF Health has named Donnie McLaughlin COO of UF Health Shands Hospital, the system said in a news release shared with Becker’s.
Mr. McLaughlin brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in academic medicine. He joins UF Health from CHI Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, where he served as COO of the flagship academic medical center. Before that, he spent more than a decade at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in a series of senior leadership roles overseeing operational growth, service expansion and facility development, according to the release.
In his new role, McLaughlin will provide executive leadership for hospital operations and collaborate with physician, nursing and administrative leaders to advance strategic priorities at UF Health’s hospitals in Gainesville and Ocala, Fla.
“His background in leading large-scale operational initiatives, improving patient care pathways and access, and developing high-performing teams will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our hospitals, outpatient practices and ambulatory care settings throughout the Greater Gainesville region,” said Michael Holmes, senior vice president and Greater Gainesville regional president.
