U of Maryland Capital Region Health names Dr. Joseph Wright interim CEO: 4 points

Cheverly-based University of Maryland Capital Region Health has appointed Joseph L. Wright, MD, interim president and CEO, effective July 7.

Four points:

1. Dr. Wright is the organization’s senior vice president and CMO, and he will continue in those roles in addition to taking over interim leadership responsibilities.

2. He was previously a professor and chairman of pediatrics at the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C.

3. He has also served as a senior vice president within the Children’s National Health System in Washington, D.C.

4. Dr. Wright replaces Sherry Perkins, PhD, RN, who resigned May 24 for another job.
