Tufts Medical Center taps Dr. Michael Tarnoff as surgeon-in-chief: 3 points

Boston-based Tufts Medical Center named Michael Tarnoff, MD, surgeon-in-chief, effective June 4.

Dr. Tarnoff will also serve as chair of the surgery department at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Three points:

1. Dr. Tarnoff has provided care as a general surgeon at Tufts Medical Center since 2001.

2. He has experience working in the medical device industry, serving most recently as CMO and senior vice president for value-based healthcare partnerships at Medtronic.

3. He succeeds William Mackey, MD, who is retiring after 37 years of service.
