Tufts Medical Center names new CFO: 3 things to know

Tufts Medical Center in Boston has named Kristine M. Hanscom senior vice president and CFO, according to a Wicked Local report.

Here are three things to know about Ms. Hanscom.

1. She held the title of interim CFO since last November, and has served as Tufts Medical Center's vice president of finance since 2008.

2. During her tenure as vice president of finance at Tufts Medical Center, Ms. Hanscom oversaw 250 staff members, and provided guidance for key strategic decisions on business investments, according to the report. Projects she was involved in include preparing for Tufts Medical Center's bond issue in 2011, a three-year project aimed at ensuring a seamless transition to ICD-10 medical billing codes, and the redesign of the finance department.

3. "Kristine's exceptional performance in the interim role and her long track record of excellence during her entire tenure at Tufts MC make her the ideal choice to lead our financial enterprises for many years to come," Michael Wagner, president and CEO of Tufts Medical Center, said, according to the report. "She possesses a clear, strategic vision and a unique ability to identify new and innovative ways to increase revenues and reduce expenses, while staying true to our clinical, research and teaching mission."
