TriHealth names Gail Donovan COO: 8 things to know

Cincinnati-based TriHealth has named Gail Donovan COO, according to a Cincinnati Business Courier report.

Here are eight things to know about Ms Donovan.

1. She will begin her job Dec. 1.

2. She replaces Jerry Oliphant, who left the health system in September.

3. As COO, Ms. Donovan will oversee all operations at the five-hospital health system, according to the report. She also will be responsible for meeting quality and financial goals, along with planning, directing and evaluating operational activities, Mark Clement, interim CEO of TriHealth, said, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier.

4. Ms. Donovan has three decades of experience as a healthcare executive.

5. Most recently, she was chief hospital operations officer for New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System, which formed in 2013 when the Mount Sinai Medical Center merged with Continuum Health Partners, according to the report.

6. Prior to the merger, Ms. Donovan was COO of Continuum for 13 years.

7. During her tenure at Continuum, it grew to a $3 billion, seven-hospital system with facilities throughout Manhattan, N.Y., and Brooklyn, N.Y., TriHealth officials said, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier.

8. Ms. Donovan earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Villanova (Pa.) University and a master's degree in health services administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
