John Prout, CEO of Cincinnati-based TriHealth, is passing his title of president on to new hire Mark Clement while retaining his role as CEO, according to the Cincinnati Business Insider.

Mr. Clement, who most recently served as CEO of Rochester (N.Y.) General Health System, will become TriHealth’s new president May 26. After serving as RGHS’ president and CEO since 2006, Mr. Clement stepped down in November 2014 after helping design a merger with Rochester, N.Y.-based Unity Health System. The new system, Rochester Regional Health System, is comparable in size to TriHealth.

The division of Mr. Prout’s duties should not be interpreted as a succession plan, according to TriHealth officials. The division of leadership roles is becoming commonplace in the healthcare industry, Mr. Prout told the Cincinnati Business Insider. He added that he plans to continue serving as CEO for “as long as the board will let me.”

Mr. Prout has served as TriHealth president and CEO since April 1998.
