Hackensack University Health Network creates chief population health officer role

Hackensack University Health Network, part of Hackensack (N.J.) University Health System, has announced the appointment of Mark Sparta to the newly created role of executive president and chief population health officer, effective May 15.

In this role, Mr. Sparta will lead the development of HackensackUHN’s population health program and accountable care services. He will facilitate partnerships internally with the HackensackAlliance ACO leadership and the medical community, and externally with community health agencies, nursing home facilities and other entities.

Mr. Sparta has been an employee of Hackensack (N.J.) Medical Center for 25 years, spending the last eight years as vice president of clinical services and senior operations officer. In November Mr. Sparta left that position to serve as acting CEO of HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley.
