Thomas Laux heads Strategic Leadership Associates: 4 things to know

Thomas Laux has returned to Martinsville, Ind.-based Strategic Leadership Associates as president and consultant.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Laux.

1. He formed Strategic Leadership Associates in 2012 to facilitate strategy and business development, affiliations and consult to achieve results desired for governing boards and leadership of regional health systems, community hospitals, physician specialists and managed care networks.

2. He returned to Strategic Leadership Associates Sept. 21 following a six-month tenure as interim CEO of Burlington, Kan.-based Coffey Health System.

3. Mr. Laux said he was involved in a number of accomplishments as interim CEO of CHS, such as stabilizing and restructuring operations while preserving jobs, and developing a $2.3 million turnaround budget and capital plan. He also led the search for a permanent CEO, a position filled by Leonard Hernandez.

4. Prior to CHS, from 2000 to 2011, Mr. Laux was president and CEO of Morgan Hospital & Medical Center in Martinsville. He resigned from that position after leading a successful affiliation-turned-merger with Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health.
