Brad Holland, president and CEO of Abilene, Texas-based Hendrick Health, has left the role, according to a May 29 news release shared with Becker’s.

Mr. Holland’s departure comes after more than seven years leading the system. He was named president and CEO in November 2018, succeeding retiring CEO Tim Lancaster, and previously served as CEO of Cedar Park (Texas) Regional Medical Center.

During his tenure, Hendrick expanded into a regional health system with nearly 6,000 employees, serving patients across 24 counties, according to the health system.

“I am proud of what we have accomplished and the vision that has been cast for the future. Today, I feel it’s time to look for what comes next in my life, but do not feel it’s fair to Hendrick to explore opportunities while still employed,” Mr. Holland said in the release.

Kirk Canada, DPT, system vice president and COO, was appointed interim president and CEO while the board conducts a national search for Hendrick’s next CEO. He joined Hendrick in 2012 as a physical therapist and has since advanced through operational and business-development leadership roles.

“The board and Brad wish each other the best in their respective future endeavors,” the release said.

Founded in 1924, Hendrick is a three-hospital system with more than 100 service locations across West Central Texas.
