Donny Booth, MSN, RN, CEO of Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, Texas, was terminated for cause by a 4-2 vote during a March 26 board meeting, NBC affiliate KWES reported March 27.

The board said the move was necessary to preserve the hospital’s financial integrity, according to the outlet. Board members cited an alleged 18-month “lapse in communication” and a $1 million draw from a line of credit they said was never approved through proper board channels, KWES reported.

However, Chantelle Venter, a turnaround specialist familiar with the hospital’s finances, said the hospital saw a $5 million increase in revenue between March and September 2025 under Mr. Booth’s leadership. One board member suggested a probation or formal public reprimand instead of termination.

“The reason we were so successful and ahead of plan is purely because of the culture that Donny Booth had put in place,” Ms. Venter said during the meeting.

An agenda for the March 26 Andrews County Hospital District Board included a closed executive session to deliberate the CEO contract.

Mr. Booth had served as CEO since 2019, joining the hospital as chief nursing officer in 2014, according to his LinkedIn profile.

At the time of the final vote, staff members expressed concerns over morale and turnover, the TV station reported.Becker’s has reached out to Permian Regional Medical Center and to Mr. Booth, and will update this story as more information becomes available.
