Texas Health, Aetna name Ascension health plan exec to head joint venture

Texas Health Resources and Aetna appointed Jeffrey Cook to lead the organization’s joint health plan, reports Dallas/Fort Worth Healthcare Daily.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Cook.

1. Mr. Cook previously served as vice president of insurance and value-based strategy and reimbursement for St. Louis-based Ascension Health.

2. At Ascension, Mr. Cook was responsible for seven health plans, 20 ACOs, 145 hospitals and 6,000 employed physicians. He also oversaw managed care, community insurance, chargemaster pricing and an ACO for Seton Healthcare, a subsidiary of Ascension.

3. In his new position, he will leverage THR and Aetna’s clinical experience and insurance expertise to contract directly with employers for the joint health plan venture.
