John McChesney was named senior vice president of operations and Tali Mackay was named senior vice president of corporate communications and investor relations. Mr. McChesney has a background in medical device manufacturing, working in various roles at GenapSys, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Medtronic. Ms. Mackay brings crisis communications, corporate branding and reputation expertise from her tenure at Genentech, Baxter and several global public relations companies.
Gregory Tsongalis, PhD, will join Theranos’ Scientific and Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Tsongalis brings expertise in clinical molecular diagnostic applications and technology development. He holds a doctorate in pathology from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, now known as Rutgers University.
David Taylor was promoted to general counsel after serving as acting general counsel, Theranos also announced. He was hired in May as senior litigation counsel.
“One of my primary areas of focus this year has been the establishment of our new leadership team,” Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes said in a statement. “I am proud to welcome these seasoned executives and am humbled by the passion and commitment of the team working to realize our mission of accessible, affordable health information.”
Earlier this month, the company announced plans to dissolve its board of counselors on Jan. 1 to streamline its advisory structure.
