Tenet names new chief compliance officer: 4 things to know

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare has named Howard Hacker senior vice president and chief compliance officer, effective May 2.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Hacker.

1. He joins Tenet after more than 10 years at Pfizer where he served in various leadership roles within Pfizer's legal and compliance teams. Most recently, he was chief compliance counsel for Pfizer's global established pharma business.

2. In his new role, he will provide expert management and oversight of Tenet's ethics and compliance program, the company said.

3. His compliance oversight will include 79 acute care hospitals and their affiliated outpatient facilities, more than 700 physician practices, United Surgical Partners International, Conifer Health Solutions and other services and functions within the company.

4. Mr. Hacker succeeds Vanessa Benavides, who left Tenet to assume the leadership of compliance and privacy operations at Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente.
