Steward Health Care taps former Baptist Health System CEO for exec role: 5 notes

Boston-based Steward Health Care selected Trip Pilgrim to serve as regional president of its East Division.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Pilgrim formerly served as CEO of San Antonio-based Baptist Health System, departing suddenly from the role in October 2017.

2. He also served in numerous leadership roles within Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, Baptist's parent, and Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanguard Health Systems, which was acquired by Tenet in 2013.

3. Mr. Pilgrim holds an MBA from Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University.

4. He succeeds John Polanowicz, who was promoted to systemwide COO.

5. Last year, Steward completed its acquisition of Iasis Healthcare in Franklin, Tenn. It is now the largest private hospital operator in the nation, overseeing 36 hospitals across 10 states.
