St. Francis Hospital CEO David Koontz resigns

David Koontz, CEO of Columbus, Ga.-based St. Francis Hospital, will resign effective next month, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.

Mr. Koontz has worked in the healthcare industry for 34 years, serving as CEO of St. Francis since August 2015 as the hospital was in the process of being acquired by Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health. Mr. Koontz's family has remained in Houston during his time at St. Francis, which he cited as his biggest reason for stepping down.

Earlier this month St. Francis announced it will lay off 55 employees and reduce hours for an undetermined number of employees. LifePoint will conduct the search for Mr. Koontz's replacement.
