St. Elizabeth’s Hospital names Peggy Sebastian CEO

Peggy Sebastian, MSN, has been named president and CEO of Belleville, Ill.-based St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, part of Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System, according to the Belleville News-Democrat.

Ms. Sebastian will take over for Shelley Harris, DNP, CNO of St. Elizabeth’s, who has been serving as interim CEO since Maryann Reese, RN, the former president and CEO, resigned at the end of July. Ms. Reese took a position as executive vice president and COO of Cape Girardeau, Mo.-based Saint Francis Health System.

Ms. Sebastian is currently president and CEO of Highland, Ill.-based St. Joseph Hospital, which is also part of HSHS. She’s held the role since 2009. She will leave St. Joseph and begin her new position at St. Elizabeth’s Jan. 18.

Before joining St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Ms. Sebastian served as president and CEO of Sebastian Group, a healthcare consulting company.
