SSM Health selects president for Mid-Missouri region: 4 takeaways

St. Louis-based SSM Health appointed Mike Baumgartner regional president of SSM Health in Mid-Missouri, according to a Nodaway News Leader report.

Here are four takeaways:

1. Mr. Baumgartner most recently served as president of SSM Health St. Francis Hospital-Maryville (Mo.). He will continue to assist with the pending transfer of the Maryville hospital’s ownership to St. Joseph, Mo.-based Mosaic Life Care.

2. In all he led the Maryville hospital for 13-plus years; first from 1997 to 2007 then 2015 until the present.

3. During his tenure, Mr. Baumgartner spearheaded the expansion and renovation of the hospital’s emergency and outpatient departments as well as recruited physicians.

4. He succeeds Phil Gustafson, who has been serving as interim president of SSM Health in Mid-Missouri.
