SSM Health names Charles J. Barnett regional president for academic ministries

SSM Health has selected Charles J. Barnett to serve as regional president for academic ministries in St. Louis.

Mr. Barnett brings more than four decades of healthcare administrative experience to the role.

He will work with the St. Louis-based health system’s Saint Louis University and Cardinal Glennon Children’s and St. Mary’s hospitals, while Candace Jennings, RN, BSN, MSN, will remain leader of SSM Health’s St. Louis community and Southern Illinois ministries.

Previously, Mr. Barnett was president and COO of St. Louis-based Ascension Health and president and CEO of Austin, Texas-based Seton Healthcare Family.

He also has served as a lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin and played a key role in developing the Dell Medical School at the university.
