Southwest Community Health System names new CEO: 6 things to know

Middleburg Heights, Ohio-based Southwest Community Health System — the parent organization of Southwest General Health Center and the Southwest Community Health Foundation —  has named William A. Young Jr. president and CEO, according to a Crain's Cleveland Business report.

Here are six things to know about Mr. Young.

1. He begins his job Jan. 1.

2. He will replace Thomas A. Selden, who is retiring.

3. Mr. Young is currently president and CEO of St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio.

4. Before St. John, Mr. Young was in administration at Cleveland Clinic's Warrensville Heights, Ohio-based South Pointe Hospital and Garfield Heights, Ohio-based Marymount Hospital. 

5. Mr. Young earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Toledo (Ohio), and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ada-based Ohio Northern University. He lives with his wife and three children in Hudson.

6. His departure from St. John comes about two months after University Hospitals and Sisters of Charity Health System, both based in Cleveland, signed an agreement to transfer sole ownership of St. John to UH.
