South Dakota hospital president dies in ATV accident

Regional Health Spearfish (S.D.) Hospital and Market President Larry Veitz, 59, died of injuries sustained in an ATV accident Nov. 4, according to the Rapid City Journal.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office did not release additional information about Mr. Veitz or the accident, the report states.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of Larry’s passing. He was a longtime leader, colleague and friend. His contributions to Regional Health and the greater Spearfish and Belle Fourche communities over the past 15 years will have a lasting impact,” a spokesperson for Rapid City, S.D.-based Regional Health said in an emailed statement to Becker’s Hospital Review. “[Mr. Veitz] was so proud of what his team has accomplished, and he set a great vision for the future.”
