Mr. Pier had been serving as the foundation’s interim executive director.
As the permanent executive director, Mr. Pier will work closely with the foundation board to raise funds for SVH and oversee several foundation community programs funded by philanthropy, according to the hospital. These include Project Pink, which funds mammograms for women who are uninsured and underinsured, and the new Cancer Support Sonoma program located within SVH.
Here are three things to know about Mr. Pier.
1. Mr. Pier has more than two decades of experience working with nonprofits in the Sonoma Valley.
2. Mr. Pier formerly served as CEO of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley.
3. Mr. Pier earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from College of Notre Dame in Belmont, Calif., and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Sonoma State University.
