Here are five things to know:
1. Mr. Howard comes to Sharp HealthCare from St. Louis-based SSM Health, where he most recently served as COO.
2. He has worked at SSM Health for 23 years, previously serving as the health system’s president of hospital operations and president of SSM Health’s St. Louis region.
3. Mr. Howard is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and has served as a member of the American Hospital Association and Medical Group Management Association.
4. He holds a master of science degree in healthcare administration from Norman-based University of Oklahoma.
5. He succeeds Mike Murphy, who is retiring March 1, 2019, after 22 years at the helm.
