Sentara Norfolk names Carolyn Carpenter as COO, VP

Carolyn Carpenter, MHA, has been named COO and vice president of Sentara Norfolk (Virginia) General Hospital, effective September 11.

Ms. Carpenter spent the last 20 years at Raleigh, N.C.-based Duke University Health System, serving as COO of Duke University Hospital since 2014.

“Carolyn’s wealth of operational expertise in both an academic medical center and community hospital setting will benefit us greatly,” said Kurt Hofelich, corporate vice president and president of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. “Her long tenure at Duke in creating reputable clinical programs will be instrumental as we continue growing Sentara Norfolk General Hospital into a Mid-Atlantic destination medical center.”
